Coordination Systems and Standards Architect · Precision by Design

Complex systems, made clear, precise, and structured.

Grant programs, AI knowledge tooling, financial-integrity analysis, and the standards beneath them: I build the structures that make complicated coordination legible and hold it to evidence. Proven across seven funding rounds at Octant Labs and a published standards corpus.

01

Evaluate

Nearly 800 grant applications evaluated individually across seven rounds, more than 450 in a single round. Each a researched brief: funding and wallet history, ecosystem and due diligence, not a score.

02

Run

Seven funding rounds run end to end: round and intake design, proposal evaluation, and a full platform migration. 159 project grants stewarded, on dashboards, evaluation pipelines, and KarmaGAP tracking I built and shipped.

03

Improve

More thorough and faster, round over round: the applicant FAQ rewritten to a three-reader standard, intake redesigned, the workflow systematized. Continuous process improvement, monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

04

Formalize

Authored the public standards that bring precision and data quality to grant coordination: CROSS, WALKRI, and GRAIN, stage gates, verifiable data quality, and a common grants data layer, on a coordination foundation I also built.

Competencies

Grant lifecycle management · Proposal evaluation · Due diligence · Data quality and integrity · Evaluation rigor and evidence quality · Precision standards · Monitoring, evaluation, and learning · Round and intake design · Fund-allocation mechanism operations · RFP design · Milestone and grantee tracking (KarmaGAP) · Systems implementation and migration · Change management · Process design and continuous improvement · KPIs and dashboards · Coordination and documentation standards · Stakeholder engagement · Cross-functional collaboration · Standards authorship

“His evaluation work was the most thorough I’ve seen. He understands grants and the mechanics of funding well beyond the operational role he held.”

Selected Work

I made an ambiguous mandate fundable.

A mandated tool produced a candidate set, but its criteria were too general to fund from. I exported that set and built a deeper 12-step evaluation, the analysis that produced the final funded list, which management adopted directly.

Disconfirmation

A standard I tried to break.

Before I’ll stand behind a standard, I try to break it myself. CRAFT, a verification standard I authored, took three rounds of deliberate disconfirmation before I would ratify it: the early versions did not survive, and I rebuilt until one held. I don’t trust my own conclusions until they have survived my own attack.

Go Deeper

Three pages, each a step deeper than the last: the same person, from what I build, to how I think, to where both come from. Move inward.

Available for hire · Remote

If you're building a system that has to actually work, or hiring someone who can, let's talk.

Roles in coordination, grants, standards, AI and knowledge systems, financial-integrity analysis, and systems architecture, including the work usually labeled governanceDimensional Frame LanguageI work in coordination, not governance. “Governance” folds authority and control into one noun; “coordination” names what parties actually do together without importing that frame. The word sits here so a search still finds me..
